Health & Social Services Special Needs Service
Special Needs Service Mission statement:
Our purpose is to ensure that people who use our services, and their families, live an ordinary life in our community
Ø Services for children will aim to safeguard and promote the welfare of the child, to maintain them in their own families and their local community; taking into account the best interest of the child or young person
Ø Services for adults will improve their quality of life and well being; actively promoting the persons rights, independence, choice and inclusion as a citizen of Jersey
This is achieved by providing a range of multi-disciplinary services, in partnership with other States and voluntary agencies, resulting in appropriate, responsive and accessible services
We provide services to:
Children and young people, up to the age of 18 years, with a learning disability and / or are on the autistic spectrum; also with associated developmental disorder / complex needs, or have a physical and / or sensory disability
Adults with a learning disability and / or on the autistic spectrum and people with other complex developmental disorders
Who are we?
The Special Needs Service Adult Multidisciplinary Community Support Service comprises: Ø Nursing Ø Social Work Ø Occupational Therapy Ø Physiotherapy Ø Intensive Support Service Ø Mental Health
The Special Needs Service Adult Provider Service comprises: Ø Residential Care Ø Day Service
The Special Needs Service Children's Service comprises: Ø Disabled Children's Social Work Team Ø Children's Short Break Services : - Children with multiple/profound physical and learning disabilities, and complex health needs - Children on the autistic spectrum, and with other associated complex developmental disorders
